Les révolutions mondaines des planètes.
Extrait trad James H Holden FAFA

Chapter II.
The Mundane Revolutions of the Planets.
Since the mundane revolution of a planet is its restitution to the same place in longitude from which its motion began at the beginning of the World, as was said in the preceding chapter, but since those initial places are unknown, at least for Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Venus, Mercury, and the Moon, it is plain that the mundane revolutions of these planets are also unknown. In the case of the Sun, there is also a difference of opinion as to what point of the ecliptic it was made to be in on the 4th day of creation’; for some want it to have been in the beginning of Libra, others in the beginning of Cancer, since all agree that it was placed in some cardinal point. But I, from the demonstrated futility of the reasons adduced by both of them, and on account of reasons of much greater weight, have declared in Book 2, Chapter 4,
that the Sun was placed [initially] in the beginning of Aries; therefore, we can erect its mundane revolutions, but [they are] of obscure and only incomplete signification; namely, because although the time of the Solar ingress into Aries can be known for any particular place on Earth, at least with the tables made according to the laws of our restored astronomy,” and consequently the figure of the revolution can be erected, by which there will appear at that moment what is the celestial state both of the Sun and of the other planets and their determination for the place on Earth for which the figure was erected. But because it is not known at what hour in that place the Sun was placed at the beginning of the Worid and what were then the places of the other planets in the sky, consequently that initial figure cannot be known in which the Sun with the other planets began to influence these inferior [regions], especially that particular place on the Earth, so that this [chart] can be compared with that, for only from this comparison of figures and their radical directions can a clear and complete signification be brought forth, as can be done from the revolutions of nativities, concerning which if anyone shall have made a judgment without having considered the natal figure and its directions, he will greatly err in his predicting. For he will predict great and favorable things if he sees the Sun in the ASC or the MC of the revolution, although unfavorable things should be predicted if in the genethliacal figure the Sun is badly afflicted in the eighth or twelfth [house]; and the same logic applies in other instances. Therefore, from mundane revolutions of the Sun, we can scarcely hope for any certitude of prediction by reason of the house of the figure or the influences according as they are generally referred to that same place on Earth, unless perhaps insofar as they are consulted together with particular revolutions of nativities, because the particular always depends to some degree on the general—although by reason of the constitution of the air those revolutions always have much virtue—[i.e.] from that initial figure to those independent of it. But about these [we shall speak] more fully elsewhere; and here this will suffice: that it is evident how much the annual revolutions of the World can be useful in [the understanding of] the annual revolutions of nativities. For if the annual mundane revolution shall have been very lucky and favorable in itself, this will be good for all those individuals living in the place of the figure, especially for those whose genethliacal revolutions agree with that revolution of the World; but it will be necessary to say the contrary if both the mundane and the genethliacal revolutions agree in evil and misfortune; for in fact the celestial constitution, general as well as particular, can always act as much as is in accordance with its own proper force, unless in acting it depends on something prior.’
